Quite by chance I came across this QVC PR press release whuch extolls the virtues of QVC's "relaxing vacation" lifestyle. Nothing wrong with that, even if it isn't always true. What I found was weird is the "tag" lines on the press release, which mention both "hello peter" (sic) and my name. Since when do I have anything to do with QVC, other than being a critic?Has QVC's PR ....
An extract from the movie that General Motors and Chevron don't want you to see. It's called Who Killed The Electric Car and you can get the full 702MB file by clicking on the P2P link above, assuming you have eMule or a similar program. The movie explains how GM and the oil companies, along with their stooges like George Bush, crippled their own attempts to produce an electric ....
It's not only Eskom that doesn't do its job. I'm not an Afro-pessimist, but I do believe that people who steal the wealth of others are ruining their country. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Nigeria all suffer from this problem, in different ways. ....
Another update for PerfectDisk 2008 arrived on my laptop today. It installed a series of bug fixes. The "What's New" file lists the fixes as follows:PerfectDisk works incorrectly if per-user quotas are being used. Today I was called by a lawyer for RCI, complaining about my "unauthorized use" of the RCI logo on my blog entries about QVC.I pointed out to him that QVC is an RCI affiliate, but he was anxious to distance RCI from the despicable behaviour described in the blog entries. I agree: the behaviour is despicable, and violates the Timeshare Industry code of conduct. What the lawyer doesn't understand ....
In Zimbabwe they call them the "walking clubs", and Grace Sibanda is an involuntary member. Each working day, the 36-year-old shop assistant rises before dawn in Dzivaresekwa township to the west of Harare, slips out of her tiny home without waking the three children who share her bed, and makes her way to the clusters of people gathered at the roadside. When there are enough of them -- a ....
On Saturday 5th July I was contacted by Puran Software and asked to test the beta version of Puran Defrag 5.0. Today they announced the release of version Puran Defrag 5.0 for US$24.95 for new customers, and a free upgrade to all existing customers. Is it worth it? You bet! It has an intuitive and easy to use interface, and can be set up to handle defrag tasks automatically. At ....
"Jacob Zuma is one of the most powerful men in South Africa. He controls the ruling African National Congress and is poised to replace President Thabo Mbeki as head of state. But Jacob Zuma has a problem. Prosecutors say he's corrupt and hope to bring him to trial in August. Mr Zuma says the charges are political, designed to keep him from power. For Assignment Martin Plaut travelled to ....
I've listened to hundreds of podcasts, especially the TWiT network, but this week I was interviewed by Stephanie Diamond for the PerfectDisk blog.Nothing was edited out; I was not told what I could say or not say; and I was encouraged to talk freely about defragmentation, my blogging experiences, and so on. She sent me some generic questions ahead of time so I could think through what i wanted ....
