There’s a new group based in the UK called the Green New Deal Group. Together with Al Gore’s recent challenge to the US, they’ve restored my faith in the green movement. What really grabs me about this ‘green new deal’ is that inherent is a genuinely radical proposal to solve not only global warming, but high oil prices and the credit crunch. Taken from President Franklin D Roosevelt’s “New Deal” ....
Fiat has come out tops as the manufacturer of cleaner, more environmentally friendly cars. "The great irony is that rising fuel costs, not environmental concerns, have done more to accelerate the shift to more fuel efficient cars than any other initiative. Whether we like it or not, for most people, saving money still trumps saving the planet when it comes to buying a new car." Jay Nagley of Clean Green ....

The national mood changes as the seasons change. ....
With the price of food literally taking a hike (prices are on the up and food shortages are forecast) it makes both green and money sense to grow your own in your back garden – not only will your salad and vegetables be organic, but you can pick them moments before you eat them! Suburban vegetable gardens are becoming immensely popular. It’s rewarding, healthy and you don’t need a large ....
Redi Direko has a ‘green tip of the day’ at 10.05 on both Cape Talk and 702 – there’s a simultaneous broadcast - that is definitely worth catching. Simon Gear, their environmental correspondent, steps up to the mike on any given day and manages to pack a wealth of information into the four minute slot, or Redi invites a guest to phone in and share their tip. The likes of ....
